Dear Members and Friends,
We had our first service last week service at Brailsford. It was a bit strange with all the regulations and oddities of a new format, but it was good to be together to worship God. We are hoping to continue ABC’s morning services at Brailsford Institute at 10.30am, for the foreseeable future.
Please read the information sheet. The one change from last week, is it is now necessary to wear a mask while in the building for the church service. Please let us know if you feel able to join us or not. We will record the service, and have it available on the website and CD as soon as possible so no-one misses out. Last week we were able to email out a link so people could catch up that afternoon.
There is a hymn sheet to print out & bring, or download on your phone(!) and worksheets for the children.
Here’s the details of things that are happening:
Sunday Evening:
In the Evening we are going to ‘meet’ on Zoom, Aaron Johnson (from Springwood) is going to preach for us.
The sign up details are the same for each meeting. Please Contact us to find out how to join our Zoom Meetings.
Thursday:
We are meeting on Zoom at 7:30, Nathan is going to lead the meeting, we plan to be looking at Psalm 122.
The following Sunday the plan is for Dalton King to join us at Brailsford.
With love to all of you,
Nathan, David & Tim
Dear Members and Friends,
In accordance with government guidelines our Sunday Services, Bible Study & Prayer Meeting, Boys’ Brigade and Tots have all been stopped from meeting for the time being. While this is an unprecedented situation for all of us, we must submit to our Governing authorities who are trying to make wise decisions in an incredibly difficult situation. (Let’s carry on praying for them.)
While we cannot physically meet together, that doesn’t mean we’ve ceased to be a church! We’ll just have to be a bit more imaginative in how we continue!
Sunday Worship:
We can still honour the Lord’s Day, worship by singing some of your favourite hymns and songs, as individual, couple, or family. (Plenty available on youtube, MP3s, CDs etc.) There are plenty of sermons available online, but we still think it is more personal for us to listen to our own elders preaching to us. We’ll aim to record this Sunday’s sermons in advance, to have available on the website. (and hopefully CD too.) With details of the readings, prayer points etc.
Bible Study & Prayer meeting:
We’ll try to order and distribute a book /ebook to study and read. We can also share things to pray about. Maybe by phone or WhatsApp we can share together for Bible study and prayer. More details to follow!
Fellowship:
Let’s all keep in regular contact with each other. Especially those who are unwell or confined to their home. Let us know if anyone is in need or food or supplies etc. Let each other know how we can pray for each other too. The elders will try to phone people regularly too.
We can also each offer to help our nearby neighbours and friends, especially those who are isolated or in need.
If anyone has any other ideas, please let us know.
We may not be able to draw near to each other, but we can still draw near to God – let’s pray on!
With Love in Christ,
Nathan, David & Tim.
From March 2020 our pastor used email for our weekly updates.
The following Church activities are postponed.
You are wecome to check back, to see if we've come up with any work-arounds.
Sadly our summer Camp has had to be cancelled for 2020.
(We look forward to camp in 2021!)
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried
into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake
with its swelling.
There is a river whose streams
shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of
the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her,
she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, at the break of dawn.Psalm 46

SOCIAL MEDIA & LANDLINE PHONE
Together - in our homes
As a church we're using landline telephone and social media to hear and see each other during the week, which is great, because we're used to being around each other...
If you have landline telephone (or a computer or 'device') you are equipped to use any of these meetings.

We use Social Media for the following events
Please contact us for help accessing any of these activites.
SUNDAY EVENING SERVICES
'Zoom' online meetings
Zoom seems to work well for us whilst we are having more informal Sunday evening worship, because we can see and hear each other in real time, but we haven't been singing to each other yet! (More about Zoom in the next paragraph.) We might make use of Zoom's other features later... we're still learning how best to do this 'isolation' thing.
THURSDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY & PRAYER
'Zoom' online meetings
Nathan leads our meeting as usual, but we can all join in - and we enjoy chatting while we wait for everyone to 'arrive'. To join us by landline, phone someone just before the meeting starts and we'll make sure you can hear. If you use a computer or mobile device, simply click the link we send, and you're in. There's a different link for each meeting/service (encrypted for security).
LADIES' BOOK GROUP
Email
The Ladies' Book Group will run via email temporarily. Contact us (link below) for details of which book we're currently reading, and to tell us your name and email address.
STAYING IN TOUCH ALL WEEK:
Telephone
A landline lets you join in with any of our online meetings. Just phone one of us before any meeting, so we can connect you.
WhatsApp
Our easiest way to stay in touch. Send your mobile number (and tell us who you are!) if you'd like to join the ABC group.
